I was tasked with creating an asset pack for the Unity store as part of a Game Design elective. The goal of the assignment was to make an asset pack, that's easy to understand and use for any potential user. My original idea for this project was to have multiple firearms created by South Africa, with interchangeable parts, since the key word for this elective was 'modular'. However, the scope of my idea had to change due to time constraints and other subjects needing priority.
So I stuck with one of South Africa's more iconic firearms, the Vektor R4, which was based off of the IMI Galil. I wanted to keep this asset pack as 'modular' as possible, so I added different barrels varying in length and with the option to switch to a bipod or bipodless barrel. Two hand-guards are also added, depending on which barrel is used dictates what hand-guard will be used. I also added various sight options for the potential user of the asset pack, along with eight magazines' (four filled with ammo and four emptied) for reload animations. Finally I added four muzzles, for user customizability. The stock is collapse-able, along with the trigger rotating on the correct origin; the slider on the side of the firearm also slides into it's correct position.
All the assets were modeled inside of Blender, the textures were made in Substance 3D Painter, and everything was imported into Unity for the final pack.
To showcase this asset pack I added a full turnaround that was rendered in Blender's Eevee engine. I also added close up images of the textures in Substance 3D Painter to better showcase the detail of the textures. For the asset pack itself, I added a .txt file detailing what the pack includes, it's vert and tri count, as well as where all the assets and textures are located. I also added six promotional materials showcasing all the assets as well as some of the customizability that the pack provides.
